Wisconsin emergency room physician jailed for running cash-based pill mill

Oct. 2, 2026 – A former emergency room physician in Wisconsin will now spend the next 27 months in jail after being sentenced for running a medical clinic from inside his home. Rather than providing legitimate addiction treatment, the 69-year-old prescribed buprenorphine (meant for opioid addiction), benzodiazepines, and stimulants in exchange for cash, without having the patients demonstrate a medical necessity for the medications.

Officials say he charges more money for higher doses and the number of doses.
